A Quck Ziggy Update...

As of today, Ziggy is doing much better and seems to be on the mend! Our cat-vet Dr. Bill was able to make it first thing on Monday to give a good exam to, and assistance for, poor Zig.

We had to be dug out with a backhoe/skip loader on Saturday and Sunday with one of the big things being to make room for our vehicles at our parking area. So, there was room for Bill's mobile hospital for Ziggy's appointment on Monday.

Ziggy not only had something burst in his ear/sinus area, but somewhere had some internal bleeding. Bill suspected either bleeding from the sinus area or a possible ulcer in the stomach. Ziggy's bloodwork did show some anemia.  Now, with supportive meds, we're making slow progress to a recovery. At least we're very hopeful at this point. Zig's much more comfortable and each day sees some advance.

I have to admit that dealing with this was scary. I hate to see any animal in pain. I knew poor Zig wasn't feeling well, but during the snows all that could be done was supportive care like subcutaneous fluids, warmth, small meals of soft foods...even a vaporizer going to make his breathing a bit easier in this uber-dry air we have here.

And thank you all for your support, good thoughts and purrayers for Mr. Zig. You not only supported him, but me as well.

Great news! I am so glad to hear this, and can imagine your relief. It makes sense too, that you thought he had had a stroke, since the ear bursting could very well mimic the same symptoms. Poor little guy, I bet he was miserable for awhile, but lucky for him he had someone who knew how to make him as comfortable as possible. Anyway. Hearing that he is making progress in regaining his health is wonderful. Take care,
Tammy

Hooray! Ziggy is better! It's amazing the difference good care can make in how fast an animal (or person) recovers. Ziggy's jig gig ain't over yet!:)

Oh, I'm so glad to hear he's better! I was afraid the silence on the subject was bad news. Without someone offering the super supportive care you gave, I'm sure it would have been! Good job, friend.

Thanks so much, everyone! I did talk to Zig's doctor today and it will be a long haul until he's feeling much better. He lost alot of blood and it takes time to rebuild it. We're doing about all we can - the rest is up to Ziggy and the angels watching over him. He's 16 now. I'm hoping for continued improvement as the alternative is something that would be hard to face right now.
Thank you all for "being there". :)

Glad to hear the little man is doing better! The mobile vet is sure a handy thing (at least when they can make it). I'm glad Ziggy was able to stay home for the exam and treatment - a little less stress on his system than having to travel.
Happy to know you are dug out, too ;)
Stay warm!

Very good news! Thanks for the update. Dr. Bill is wonderful, isn't he? So nice not to have to take Ziggy out in the bad weather and stress him out even more.

Purrayers!
